Procedures for Obtaining or Altering a Permit for a Tourist Accommodation


In order to operate a Tourist Accommodation within Clayton County you must comply with the Board of Health Tourist Court Rules and Regulations. To insure that you meet with all applicable health and safety codes, we require that you follow the procedures outlined below. In order to properly process the information provided you must submit your information a minimum of ten (10) working days before construction is to begin on the facility.

If you are reopening an existing Tourist Accommodation under a new facility name or a new owner you are required to submit to the following information to the Environmental Health office:

  1. Application for Tourist Accommodation (pdf)
  2. Tourist Court Inspection Fee Schedule (pdf)
  3. A Plan review and/or a preliminary inspection will be needed to complete the permitting process.
  4. If you will be serving a continental breakfast (see definition in regulations) our office will require a list of the foods you will be providing to the public.
  5. If the facility in question includes an existing Food Service Establishment refer to the Food Service Establishment section of the Web site for information on an Existing Food Service Pan Review.
  6. If the facility in question includes an existing Public Swimming Pool, refer to that portion of the website and complete an application (pdf), the Equipment/Parameter Checklist (pdf), and the Swimming Pool Calculation Worksheet (pdf).

If you are planning to build a new Tourist Accommodation or convert an existing facility to a Tourist Accommodation you will need to submit the following information to the Environmental Health office:

  1. Application for Tourist Accommodation (pdf)
  2. Tourist Court Inspection Fee Schedule (pdf)
  3. Submit two (2) complete sets of architectural drawings for the facility. Including but not limited to one (1) layout of each style of room, the layout (including plumbing) of the laundry room, also if there will be a continental breakfast a layout of the preparation area.
  4. If you will be serving a continental breakfast (see definition in regulations) our office will require a list of the foods you will be providing to the public.
  5. If the facility in question includes a Food Service Establishment, refer to the Food Service Establishment section of the Web site for information on completing the New Food Service Plan Review.
  6. If the facility in question includes the construction of a new Public Swimming Pool, refer to the Public Swimming Pool section of the Web site for the Procedures for Building a NEW Pool/Spa in Clayton County.
