Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR)
Healthcare Liaison Program
As a part of the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEP&R) staff, the Healthcare Liaison is involved with district emergency planning and readiness efforts. These efforts extend into the healthcare community as we strive to ensure that our medical community is prepared and equipped to respond to major threats and emergencies, including terrorism, disasters and pandemic influenza that have the capability of making an impact on the health of Clayton County residents.
Our Healthcare Liaison also plays an integral role in improving the interface between private health care and the Clayton County Board of Health. Through phone calls, visits, interoffice faxes and e-mail communications, the liaison strives to keep the medical community in Clayton County up-to-date with the latest information of public health significance and impact.
With the growing threat of bioterrorism and the recent development of H1N1 Pandemic Influenza, prompt and accurate disease reporting has become increasingly important in the 21st century. Our healthcare providers are the eyes and ears of the community and may be the first to recognize unusual symptoms or clusters of illness. By communicating with public health, measures can be implemented to quickly stop or limit the spread of disease.
Our Healthcare Liaison's responsibilities also include:
Medical providers can add or update their practice information for our database, inquire about trainings or volunteer opportunities and check on health updates by contacting the Healthcare Liaison. Providers can also forward their e-mail and fax information to the
liaison if interested in being placed on the database to receive health alerts and other information of public health significance.
